To restore a .LY domain in redemption, contact Register.ly support immediately. Standard renewal is no longer the correct process: the registrar must determine eligibility and may submit a restoration request to NIC.LY.
For the complete timeline and source notes, see the .LY domain lifecycle. Timings are approximate and the actual registry status controls what action is available.
Before requesting restoration
- Confirm that WHOIS shows
redemptionPeriodor that support has confirmed redemption. - Make sure you can verify authority over the customer account and registrant.
- Ask for the applicable restoration fee and required documents before paying.
- Keep a contact email available that does not depend on the expired domain.
Request restoration
- Open a support request and provide the domain name, customer account details, and a safe contact method.
- Register.ly will check the registry status and whether restoration can still be requested.
- Complete any ownership, identity, eligibility, or payment requirements provided through an approved channel.
- Wait for confirmation that the registry accepted and completed the restoration.
- After recovery, verify active status, the new expiry date, nameservers, DNS, website, and email.
What restoration does not guarantee
- A request or payment does not guarantee registry approval.
- Restoration can take time, and DNS-dependent services may remain unavailable during processing and propagation.
- A domain in redemption cannot be transferred. Restore it to eligible active status first.
